Skylight Installation Done Right — and Sealed to Stay Dry

A skylight floods a room with daylight and opens up a ceiling like nothing else. But a skylight is a hole in your roof, and in Houston that means it has to be flashed and sealed by people who live and breathe roofs. That’s us. We install, replace, and stop the leaks on skylights across Texas.

Why It Belongs With Your Roofer

A Skylight Is Only as Good as Its Flashing

Most skylight leaks have nothing to do with the glass — they start at the flashing where the unit meets the roof. Get that detail wrong and Texas storms will find it, dripping down the shaft and staining the ceiling below. Because we install skylights as roofers, we treat the flashing, underlayment, and shingle integration as the main event, not an afterthought. The result is a bright new opening that stays watertight through hail season and hurricane season alike.

What We Do

Skylight Services in Houston

New Installation

Adding a skylight to a room that needs light? We handle the opening, the curb or deck mount, flashing, and interior finish — sealed and integrated into your roof properly.

🔄

Replacement

Old skylights fog, crack, and leak as their seals age. We swap dated units for modern, energy-efficient models and reflash the opening so it performs like new.

💧

Leak Repair

Water stains around a skylight almost always mean failed flashing or a worn seal. We find the real source and fix it — no guessing, no repeat visits.

💡

Sun Tunnels

Tubular skylights bring daylight into hallways, closets, and baths where a full skylight won’t fit — a low-profile way to brighten a dark space.

Fixed vs. Vented

Choosing the Right Skylight

Fixed skylights are sealed units that simply bring in light — simple, affordable, and leak-resistant. Vented skylights open to release hot air, which can be a real plus for cutting Texas attic and upper-floor heat. We’ll walk you through glass options, sizes, and placement so the light lands where you want it.

Built for the Sun

Heat and Glare, Handled

Texas sun is intense, so glass choice matters. Low-E and tinted glazing cut heat gain and UV so a skylight brightens the room without turning it into a greenhouse. If glare is a concern, shades and diffusing options soften the light. We’ll help you balance daylight against comfort and cooling costs.

Perfect Timing

Add or Replace Skylights With Your New Roof

The ideal moment to install or reflash a skylight is during a roof replacement, when the surrounding shingles and underlayment are already open. If your roof is due, doing both together gives you a cleaner, better-sealed result and one accountable crew. Already spot a stain? Start with a free roof inspection.

Skylight FAQ

Houston Skylight Questions

Do skylights leak in Texas storms?

A properly installed skylight shouldn’t. Nearly all skylight leaks trace back to flashing or seal failure, not the glass. We install and reflash skylights as part of the roof system, which is exactly what keeps them dry through hail and heavy rain.

My skylight is leaking — can it be fixed without replacing it?

Often, yes. If the unit itself is sound, we can reflash and reseal the opening to stop the leak. If the skylight is old and its seals are failing, replacement is usually the smarter long-term fix. An inspection tells us which.

Will a skylight make my house hotter?

Not with the right glass. Low-E and tinted glazing block much of the heat and UV while still letting daylight in. A vented model can even help exhaust hot air. We’ll recommend glass suited to Texas sun.

Is it better to install a skylight during a roof replacement?

Yes. When the roof is already open, integrating the skylight’s flashing and shingles is cleaner and more reliable. If you’re planning a new roof, it’s the perfect time to add or replace skylights.
